Petition update from the council, 23 February 2021

Good morning.

On behalf of the lead Petitioner, I would like to thank you for your interest and support for the petition which sought to protect two trees along Guildford Road which were to be removed as part of the work to widen Victoria Arch.

The Petitioner has advised that the two trees were removed earlier this week and has therefore asked for the petition to be ended; I have now arranged for the petition to end later today.

In taking this decision, the Petitioner has expressed her gratitude to all those who supported the Petition.

The two London Plane Trees are situated on the island opposite the Sovereign Public House on Guildford Road. These beautiful trees are mature trees who help the environment by capturing carbon emissions from the busy traffic flow on Goldsworth Road.
